  MEETINGS

  Carrie

I jump out of bed, as if something had literally kicked me out with a kick, I check timetable on my phone.

"Shit, I'm late, I'll kill 'comments in

myself, while around like a top crazy for

room, looking for something to put on the fly.

I grab ripped jeans, laid on the chair and a tank top extension cream that comes out from under the pile. Pass his hands through his tousled hair, I grabbed the keys to my pick-up from above the table and hop on one foot, in order to put the White All Stars.

"Yes, he will kill me!" I say, precipitandomi out of the room to take the stairs of one of the fourteen complex of the student of the UCLA Bruins University. I've been here two weeks, and I still have to learn to juggle for the immense campus that spreads over an area of almost two kilometers.

I enter my car, a Ford -100 cherry-colored, the only legacy he left me my grandfather, but as usual grumbles incessantly before convincing to get going. I sigh of relief when at last the engine starts.

On the way from Stanley to Los Angeles, I thought you dumped me in the middle of nowhere, in the desolate countryside of Idaho.

I could not get here on campus as most of the students.

I had to anticipate the journey to look for a job, in fact two occupations, but I can not complain. We must roll up our sleeves if you want to achieve your goal.

This is what: They've always told my parents. The heart is tightened in a vice as soon as I think of them, as is gone and what I left behind.

I immerse myself in the traffic of one of the most beautiful cities in the United States, Los Angeles and try to clear the mind, abandoning the warmth of the sun warms my face. It seems to always be in the middle of summer, boys riding the great Pacific Ocean waves crashing on the shoreline. The sea breeze invades my nostrils the breath inebriating, and endless days stuck in snow do I not miss.

While direct to LAX, I get lost with the look in

scene that stands in front of my eyes, tall palm trees

framing the avenue, white fences that hug the golden beach kissed by the sun. When arriving at the airport, find a parking space is next to impossible, but it seems that luck turns in my favor for once I guess.

As I see one, and I am going to put the arrow, but a gold-colored Escalade overtakes me fottendomi place.

Pinned abruptly blocking traffic behind me, I go down precipitously from the pick-up leaving the door open.

"Hey you, kind of idiot!" I shout, to the guy who calmly gets ready to go from its super luxury car.

He turns to me, her blond hair is short, but still managed to notice the blur rebellious, that frames the face with clear strong features, almost as if they were sculpted by art.

It raises sunglasses aviator glasses, calcandoseli forehead with making arrogant.

The eyes, of a more intense blue of the ocean crashing against my bully.

"You're blocking traffic," he says nonchalantly pointing behind me, I look at the movement of his arm, as the muscles contract that gesture.

"You fucking parking!" I point out through gritted teeth, with incessant honking that does not stop ringing.

He nods in mock interest, shaking the powerful shoulders that would not shame a closet.

"I'll keep in mind for next time," he adds, with a wry smile that comes to life on his face, then turn on your heels, put on his glasses, and walk with long strides towards the airport.

Furious anger to climb in the car, showing the middle finger to the lineup that I created behind me, and I decided to pay to park.

Ten dollars, I would say: Welcome to Los Angeles, Carrie. I run to the entrance, destreggiandomi between the river of people coming in and out.

Each with their luggage full of dreams, disappointments, secrets, destinies that touch then meet at a future time, that's what I like to think when I stop to observe who pass me by.

I go straight to the output of the gate, and I see her sitting on a bench, intent on chatting with two boys, one is behind, and the other, from the Latin American features, sits at his side.

Would not it be Tiana, if not the accaparrasse any stray happens to shoot. Let me give you a wave and jumps up as soon as he sees me, coming encounter.

"Carrie!" She exclaims with a little cry, throwing her arms around him.

She and I are been each other's salvation in a small town like ours.

In high school we had a clear idea of what we would do.

She actress, he could not choose any better, he is able to cry on command in a snap, and not only, and this was very helpful to get everything he wanted from their parents, since it is their only daughter.

I, however, I always wanted to become a doctor, I have always carried away by the desire to help others, and UCLA, offers a lot, even if just the course of medicine is one of the most expensive.

"Tia!" I say, squeezing me stronger. Her shiny blond hair, along with the blue eyes, I missed to die in these two weeks, and now almost does not seem real to be here and that we will live together in one place that we always dreamed of.

"I think we are not in Los Angeles' chirps, prey to euphoria, to trample the place that occupied our minds for five long years.

I had the same feeling too, when I arrived, even though it was not the first time, as Scottie, my older brother, has lived here for two years.

"Oh, that stupid," he said, then turned to the two boys, one of whom I have had the unfortunate opportunity to meet.

"Carrie, he's Blaze." The Latin guy, green-eyed, with blacks raven hair tied in a messy bun, hands me his hand.

"Pleased, Carrie, 'I say monotonous shaking it back, sideways see his friend at his side, which seems to be very amused by the whole situation.

"And he is ... however," is finally Tiana, but the advance:

&n
bsp; "A big asshole, Parking thief" we say piccata in one breath, crossing his arms over his chest, against his look that continues to percorrermi from head to foot.

"Logan can go well," retorts, showing a mischievous grin, which creates a small dimple on the left side of his mouth.

"Carrie!" I scold my best friend.

I shrug annoyed, and I know that the only way to move it away from the mass of muscles that stand out in front of us, it will drag.

For what grabbed his trolley and head for the exit, closely followed by the patter of his feet.

"Are you crazy?" He says, as soon as we reach my car.

I turn to her, I open the door and push it inside her suitcase.

"I screwed parking from under his nose, and did not even apologize. Just because driving a Cadillac Escalade cock, which costs as much as my entire course of study, "I say, making the rounds of my jalopy to put me at the wheel, Tiana takes place at the passenger side.

"You've been here two weeks, and not even know who stole your parking lot?"

I look sideways, pesto your palms on the wheel, pleading to my car to leave.

"Should I?" I asked, raising an eyebrow in surprise that she is more informed than me.

"Logan James Johnson. He won last year's Heisman Trophy as the best player on the football team of the Bruins. "

  Burst into hysterical laughter.

  "What's up?" He asks, frowning.

"I just needed a football player loser, full of itself add to the list of" I say loudly, I see the cheeks of Tiana passing from pink to deep red in zero seconds.

  "Quarterback can go."

I turn almost in slow motion, toward the voice hoarse and deep, and find it with arms spread on the hood of my car, the darting muscles, while weight flex against the bodywork.

"You have problems with the car?" He asks, throwing an eye toward my hand, which continues to turn the key in the empty dice.

"No problem!" I say, biting my lip not to spill all the curses towards this jalopy.

"It seems so," he said, raising an eyebrow forming a thin line on his forehead.

"Look, you do not go for those things ..." gesticulate animatedly with his hand up to his face.

  "... as a player?" I ask, acidly.

His arms are crossed across your chest, and despite wearing a simple white T-shirt, I can perfectly to glimpse the pectorals sculpted as if they were a cascade of muscles that simply beg to be touched.

Scaccio from the mind that stupid thought.

"And what are these things as a player?" He says, mimicking the gesture of quotation marks in the air. His friend, I seem to remember his name is Blaze, grins from the passenger side, near Tiana, who seems not to displease all of his company.

I smile mockingly. A Stanley had certainly not teams of Football, was already so have the high school, the library, put some supermarket, and the church.

But if there's one thing that gave me that little town, it is the constant desire to know. It could also be dispersed into thin air, but I knew how they behaved the rich and spoiled kids who lived in big cities like this, so I will not be intimidated and certainly say:

"Being a jerk for three hundred sixty-five days a year with no holidays."

His blue eyes widen in surprise, my little Pixy begins to mumble back among us. His friend is bent over with laughter, I can not say the same of my best friend, who would like to sink into the ocean like the Titanic.

"See you." The way his eyes It just says Logan escapes me and not the defiance in his eyes,

roll on me appiccando put out a fire in the blink of an eye.

He steps back, I was almost the reverse intent to pass over his prized sneakers, would not be such a bad idea.

"You are the usual anti-social 'Tiana scolds me, his gaze is lost on the tall palm trees that rise to the clear sky, along the Sunset Boulevard, directed to the Westwood residential area.

"I have no intention of having subjects such as friends. They are the usual boys, full of themselves, that there were ripromesse to avoid "the recall, scoccandole a knowing look.

"Carrie, we're in Los Angeles!" Punctuates with too much emphasis.

"I know," I say in my turn.

"At UCLA, you realize that?" Is pressing, as if I was sending a coded message that only she can understand.

"You know, besides being realizes, my schedule between work and the campus will be so loaded that maybe I will not remember even more where we are," I say, with a frustration wire.

The diner from three to nine in the evening is a hell, not to mention my second job on weekends, in a pub for men only, let's call it, where I have to dress up like we're on Halloween, so as not to be recognized by some customers that I happened to meet in the student of the Hill.

"Sorry," he murmurs, with a faint voice.

  "Never mind," I say.

My scholarship does not cover all the expenses, and if I want to do it I have to sacrifice every minute of my time.

My brother, Scottie, was luckier than me, has always loved the sport, and our father had joined the school in Salt

Lake City, where he lives our aunt, Missy. She lived with her, playing with the local football team, coming home only for weekends, when he had no matches.

I'm proud of him, he wants to play at a professional level in the NFL, and fortunately his scholarship covers all tuition expenses at USC, University of Southern California. "Scottie ... have you seen?" Asks Tiana, with a view that is lost in the Hill, the student residence.

"Yes, we went to lunch together last Sunday. Tia ... "call to attract his attention. He turns to me with a shrug.

"... I thought you had turned the corner," I remember them, stopping the car and meeting his gaze as I answer.

"Of course I did, I just asked if I had seen," she says, with a shrug as he prepares to get off the Pick-Up.

I follow knowing that behind that answer, actually there are a myriad of questions that I would like to do them.

"It was you who want to close with him," I say, taking his luggage from the rear seats.

"I know, you need not remind me," she says with a whisper that I can feel almost breaking for melancholy.

I sigh and let the remaining issue, I will not rant on her, telling her that Scottie is the very life of his teammates: that of jerk, with a girl

different at every game that lasts only until the next.

"Come, I'll show you our accommodation, the three I have to go to work." I start from the buildings that stand around the Hill.

"Even today works? And I'll do what? "I stop in my tracks, showing her my best smile:" Can you arrange the room, you know you are not very tidy. Thus shalt thou you place the other things that come to you during the week. "

He raises his eyes and shook his head.

  "I'll bet."

We laugh, we go up to our third floor apartment. Wave some roommates, others pass us to the side as if we were invisible. Well, it's the reality of owning a prestigious name that will open doors that are walled.

"Here," we say, leaving the pace to admire our room.

Tiana's hair and swaying in my mess trying to figure out what actually is welcoming our apartment.

The shape of the room a large square, three beds occupy the surrounding walls, mine is located right next to the glass door, which leads to a small terrace, from which you can see the entire bay. There are also services, which, in a university campus is like winning the lottery.

"You're incorrigible Carrie" Tia scolds me, hands on hips.

I leave his bag on the ground.

"I have no time, believe me, every day that you approached your arrival I promised myself to put in place, but I really needed to sleep. At the pub finish at three in the morning. "

"How will you do when they start lessons in a week?" He asks with a worried tone.

I tie your hair into a high ponytail.

"I have to do it, I have no choice you know, I can not give up now that I managed to be admitted," I reply,
trying to stay calm, but I know he's right. "See you at nine, the turn to the pub is just over the weekend. Maybe you could come to me, and we could do a tour of the bay, "I say, and I can already see his face light up.

  "All right".

I go out, and along the way I will stop the flight from Starbucks for a coffee caramel and vanilla, and I walk into the diner from Danny's.

When I get my colleague Mercy is already changing the salt shakers, napkins and adding to the dispenser.

"Hello Carrie" salutes, as soon as I reach it.

"Hello Mercy" I say, smiling at her.

We went immediately agreed, perhaps because she moved from Texas to here to search for a way out. No studies in college, he gave up his studies to try to be a model, and it would be perfect, in my opinion. Tall, slender physique, two green eyes leave you breathless, framed by a black head of hair and shiny. But every contract has proved a rip off, and if he wants to continue to stay in Los Angeles to pursue her dream, she must continue to work.

"I'll put on my uniform," the warning, I headed to the back of the room in a typical sixties-style. Tables chrome steel are located alongside the walls, upholstered banquettes with red leather.

A huge Jukebox, even in cents, and the games room with pool table and lots of darts throw. In short, welcome to the era of Greese.

"You're late," scolds me Danny, the owner.

"Sorry, I had a setback," I say, pulling on her apron.

"What no recapitalization Carrie, I have other girls would line up for this place," he says, excitedly, his eyes slimy remains a bit 'too much glued to my body.

"Okay," I will only answer, hiding behind a fake smile mega fuck that would be ready to explode on the lips.

  Logan

"So friend, how did you spend the holidays without me? Miss me, asshole? "Says Blaze, we head to our apartment in Santa Monica.

  Burst out laughing.

"As always I survived," I say ironically.

"The blonde is cute," she adds, pointing to her friend of that tattered parking.
